November Favourites

                                                                    Nov Favourites

This month was a slow on for me, now that the holidays are here almost all shopping is for others. I did get a few items from the end of last month and in my November subscription boxes that have really impressed me.

I have been using the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment with great results over the last month. It is completely worth the price and I do highly recommend this product.

What it is:
A scientifically advanced SUPERMUD™ clearing treatment to target, prevent, and heal problem skin.

What it is formulated to do:

Powerful, skin-clearing mud visibly draws out dirt and congestion while a proprietary six-acid blend dramatically brightens and softens skin. It works to magnetically draw out dirt and pores with Activated-X Charcoal, leaving skin smooth and healthy-looking.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:

Diorshow Maximer Lash Plumping serum. OMG!!! This is amazing one coat and my lashes look so much fuller. Once topped with a couple coats if Mascara it's almost as good as were false lashes.
What it is:
Dior's first lash primer that creates a smooth, even mascara base and promotes long-term lash growth, strength, and vitality.

What it does:
The newest addition to the family of legendary Diorshow Mascaras, Diorshow Maximizer Lash Primer Serum instantly primes, plumps, and lengthens lashes with an ultralight and quick-drying formula. The first "active serum" mascara primer also contains a unique cell-conditioning complex made up of hydrolyzed soy proteins that promote long-term lash growth, strength, and vitality.

What else you need to know:
"Diorshow Maximizer is this season's most innovative, must-have product. Apply as a primer serum base under mascara for intensely curled, thickened, and lengthened lashes and also on its own as a deep conditioner for lashes at night." -Sephora Pro Beauty Team Member, Nathalie Bechard

Research Results:
The Dior Innovation Center has tested Diorshow Maximizer for efficiency and found amazing results after only 8 weeks use: + 52% Volume, +38% Length, + 73% Curl
Studies also showed that lashes were more resilient, protected, and revitalized.
As you may well know, I love Julep products. This month I have really fallen for the Length Matters Wow Impact Mascara. This is fantastic!
Description: Lashes that keep on going…and going…
What is it:
No extensions here! Our finely tapered, micro-bristle brush layers on more and more mascara for a softly curled, wide-eyed look that stretches the limits.
What it does:
• Tapered micro-bristle brush wraps each lash with the perfect amount of mascara
• Creamy formula gently sculpts each lash for exaggerated length, lift, and definition
• Layerable formula that builds to your custom lash look.

It gives great length and separates the lashes really well. Perfect for natural low make up looks to open and frame the eyes with out really piling it on.

Glitz, Glamour, Cocktails!

                                                      Glitz, Glamour, Cocktails!

So many upcoming events this month. You need something festive, appropriate, and unique for each. Weither it's a company Christmas dinner, cocktails with close friends, or a full day of casual family fun. There are plenty of options and fun ways to spice it up for the holiday season.

Holidays are about excess and richness. Rich foods, decedent desserts, and the same goes for your look. Evening parties are the time for dark colours, sequins, lace and intricate patterns are what we reach for first. Smokey eyes in deep plums, navy, jewel tones, and black framed with soooo long lashes and touched with sparkle. Rich shimmery stained lips. Elegant up dos and a ton of jewelry complete this evening look.

Not all holiday events call for all out glam. Afternoon coffee get togethers, tree trimming parties or a cookie exchange with the girls. I love big soft curls this time of year. It's pretty and with the wind and the static from car heat it's just easier then a smooth poker straight do. Natural make up with glossy lips lots of lashes and well highlighted skin gives a kind of heavenly glow. Match up with comfy sweaters and your all set for good company good laughed and maybe a good cuddle by the fire!

For all the events in between. Say family dinners where you want to look elegant and festive but still be comfortable and able to tumble about on the floor playing with the kids or just hanging out on the couch catching up with loved ones. I like to take the approach of mixing the two looks above, glam the make up but do a comfy outfit. Wearing jeans? Stick to dark washes and play it up with a beautiful top and lots of accessories. For all day events you can even consider bringing a change of clothing and some extra make up to dress it up for dinner.

Whatever you wear and whatever you do, have fun this holiday season take chances, and take a moment to reflect and really enjoy it.

12 Days of Blogging Day 12

12 Days of Blogging Day 12

It's here! We did it, the end of the twelve days has arrived. Today's topic is "whatever I want". So I think I am just going to sit here and ramble out whatever comes to mind. :)

I am really enjoying writing in here more oftern. Even if this isn't something grand, or days when it's just something really quick. It gives a feeling of connection and really being involved in the communtity here. More so then just reading everyone elses posts. I really intended to put more time into this in the coming weeks and months and really focus on my channel as well. I am finding I get a lot of fulfillment out of filming and hope to improve my skills at it, and start dabbling in editing and perhaps a new camera or lighting in the new year. I think I want to try to get to around 2-3 vids a week and start really focusing on tutorials and full looks and info instead of manily unboxing/reviews. Just to broaden my space a bit.

Completely random but the worst most complicated thing in the world. At least for me, today lol Is trying to teach my father how to do a E-transfer! OMG thats all I really need to say about that. If you have a parent who is over 60 and not really that computer savy you understand this. You get it, right? Right. I thought it would be easier then going to the bank and then to his place to hand over cash. Apparently that would have taken like all day but would have saved so much stress.

Just a quick thank you to everyone who took part in this challenge, created and shared this challenge, and to those who read them all!

Till next time!

12 Days of Blogging Day 11

12 Days of Blogging Day 11

Day 11 is here! The topic is "tell us 3 things you are loving" I love a lot of things but these are my latest absolute crazes.

Tv Shows I just finished watching Masters of Sex and I loved it! I could not stop watching it, I love binge watching tv series. Anyway I don't want to say much about this cause I don't want to be a spoiler, but I really enjoyed this one, and the characters in it.

My second love is the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment. I frickin' love this. I have used it twice and have noticed probably a 60% change in my skin. Over almost the last year my skin has been going crazy and I have been breaking out and having A LOT of texturearound my jawline and forhead. I have used a lot of different creams some medicated and I was taking pills for a few months and nothing was making any improvements. I am so pleased with this. I feel like my forhead and around the eyes is nearly clear, my nose is perfect as can be, and my jawline and lower cheeks have cleared up markably. I can't wait to see if this continues over a few more uses.

Add a seasonal love, Starbucks White Peppermint Mocha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't really need to give reasons why this is such a wonderful thing right, like it just is!!

What are you guys loving right now?

12 Days of Blogging Day 10

12 Days of Blogging Day 10

Hey all,

So today's challenge topic is "a day in the life". Haha so not a interesting topic, at least for me, my usual day to day is pretty low key and uneventful. Don't get me wrong there is stress and craziness, but the daily routine is pretty straight foward.

Here goes,

Mornings are nice because I am at home with my kids so there isn't a rush to get anyone out the door yet. So we get up coffee is always a first, then I am a loyal fittness fan, so I work out 5-6 times a week, then get showered up get my kids dressed then spend most of the morning catching up on social media and checking emails etc. I do not do my make up every day only if I am going someplace or on filming days.

Afternoons are for boring house cleaning, and I spend a lot of time playing with my kids and I try to do any writing during this time or my filming so I can get the daylight. Doesn't always work but I give it a try :)

A typical evening is spending time with my family, and after getting the kids to bed, settling in with a fav TV show or movie. This is also the time of day I usaully do any video uploading for my channel.

Hope someone found this even slightly entertaining, but it is what it is :)

Till Tomorrow,

12 Days of Blogging Day 9

12 Days of Blogging Day 9

Teach us something. Yep thats the topic for today. Do a tutorial of some type. So without further yapping about how I sat here pondering what to write for most of the morning lets get to it. I am doing my lip condtioning and plumping treatment. It's pretty basic but I had it on will I was sitting here thinking, and I thought "wow this is exactly what I can do".

This is a three step process. Firstly I will do a good exfolation of my lips by simply running a extra soft toothbrush over my lips to sluff off any dead skin. This also plumps slightly by bring the the blood to the surface. *don't go to hard of to long with this, thats not good*

Next if you want a little extra volume you can go ahead and use a lip plumping device, such as Candy Lips etc. These are basically devices that suction your lips to fill them with blood and gives them extra pout for a while. I personnally don't have a lot of info on this cause I have only done this a few times and I actually find it a little scary lol.

To finish apply a plumping hydrating lip balm, or you can make your own.

To make your own just mix together vaseline or your favourite lip balm *I use body shops lip butter* mix in some peppermint extract and a little cayenne pepper. Apply fairly thickly to lips and let it soak in completely before applying your lip colour.

12 Days of Blogging Day 8

12 Days of Blogging Day 8

This seems so trivial to be doing a wish list post on Rememberance Day but in keeping with the challenge here goes.
I am going to again keep it beauty based and go with my top 5 wish list cosmetic items.

1.) Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Pallet. I know this one is a staple item for a lot of people but I have put off picking this up for a while and now I am really feeling the need for it.

2.) MakeUp Geek eyeshadow pallet. I have an neutral and warm shade pallet and would love to add another with strictly cool shades.

3.) Becca Highlighter in Rose Gold. It's just to pretty and screams holiday candlit glam.

4.) Velour Lashes in Strike a Pose. Love this brand of lashes and want this pair, a little more dramatic then the ones I already own from them.

5.) Lime Crime Velvetine in Wicked. It's gorgeous and always sold out :(

So that's it, I could list a million more but wanted to keep this to the ones at the top of my wish list.

Till tomorrow,

Monday 10 November 2014

12 Days of Blogging Day 7

12 Days of Blogging Day 7

A seasonal inspired post. This one has so many options but getting back to the roots I will do a quick run down of my fav winter and holiday looks.
During this time of year I am typically drawn to putting together 3 different looks.

The first is soft and cuddly but very glamerous.
I love mixing a big comfy sweater and a pair if leggings, jeans, or even yoga pants for days around the house. The thing with the holidays is you never now when someone will be dropping in so I like to play it ip with lots of jewelled and sparkling acsessorie a to give the look some holiday cheer. Make up I like tk keep it simple I will go a full face and full coverage but play up the skin with conotoirjng and a bright blush and a lot if highlight to shimmer. Natural eyes just a soft groomed brow and lots of mascara or some false lashes. Finished with a nude lip of a soft pink with a touch of shimmery gloss. I just find this a cozy home afternoon look or for something casual like a tree trimming party.

The second is your classic deep rich pallet that follows from fall, a lot if you still are experiencing the leaves and looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner. I am always a fan of a layered outfit, coats, scarves, gloves, boots, etc. toss in some bold dark berry lips and a warm tone smokie eye, with a wind tossed head of hair. Love it for days on the go getting things ticked off the to do list.

Last but not least is the party look. Glitz, glamor, bold lips, dark eyes, and a little something sexy! Go all out, get the long lashes, the big jewels and little lace going.

Till tomorrow, and I hope some of you agree or will give any of the above mentioned a try this holiday season.

12 Days of Blogging Day 6

12 Days of Blogging Day 6

Day 6 this is going to be short and sweet. Today's question is what are you reading.

Currently I am ready Under The Dome by Stephen Kong and it is miles above the tv series production of the story.

A book I read towards the end if summer was A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. Wonderful read if your outdoorsy and enjoy hearing about the adventures and experiences of others.

Sorry this was such a short post but today has been crazy and just had a few moments while on the way to visit some family.

Till tomorrow,

Saturday 8 November 2014

12 Days of Blogging Day 5

12 Days of Blogging Day 5

Almost halfway already in this challenge!
Anyway today's theme is "most loved possessions". I had to think about this one long and hard. While peeling potatoes I came to the conclusion that although, I have many things I love and many things I hold dear to me I can honestly say that the feelings are carried inside me and I don't require the material item to bring me comfort.

That being said I would have to say that other then my children of course. My most loved possession would be my mother's engagement ring. I always thought it was so beautiful as a child and was honoured when my father gave it to me at my mothers funeral. I do treasure it and hope to pass it on to one of my daughters one day.

Till tomorrow,

12 Days of Blogging Day 4

12 Days of Blogging Day 4

Ok so I am going to be jumping the gun a bit today. The theme for day is a top 5 list. Since Halloween has ended and Thanksgiving is long behind us up here I went with a top 5 holiday films. Couldn't help it I have been in the mood lately, some of the movies are on daily already up here and I have already got the ball rolling on shopping so why not.

Top 5

5.) The Ice Harvest. I actually saw this for the first time 6 years ago. Was a darker time for me, I didn't yet have a family of my own, was single, and my dad was away for Christmas with his g/f soI found myself home alone for the holidays and I happened upon this movie on Christmas day evevning. It was darkly funny and sinical, perfect for my mood at the time and since has become a holiday staple for me. Even at the lower moments in time things can always be worse, like a botched crime?

4.) It's a Wonderful Life. I finally watched this last year on a recommendation from a dear friend and feel in love! I love Jimmy Stewart but always steered clear of this movie, simply cause I pictured it as being kinda cream puff. The whole bell ringing angels thing turned me off so much. I was really pleasently suprised and will be making this a stample of Christmas viewing.

3.) Germlins, I am a little odd what can I say.

2.) A Christmas Story. Adorable I know a lot of people hate this but come on, the cursing father, the pink bunny jammies!

1.) Christmas Vacation. Hands down. So many classic scenes, the chase for the ideal Christmas. I don't know what I love most about this movies, the bother in laws outfits, the picky judgemental in laws, Clark's desperate attempts at perfection, or his wife's abilty to put up with all the above.

I did leave a lot of this list like The Grinch and Christmas Carol and so on. I stuck to the ones that were really importent to me personnal. The ones that evoke memories of people or events.

Hope you enjoyed, what are your favs?

Till tomorrow,

12 Days of Blogging Day 3

12 Days of Blogging Day 3

Todays challenge theme is to pick a quote. I was really caught between 2 so I thought why not include them both, nothing like tweeking the rules every now and again. :)

"It is better to be looked over then overlooked." - Mae West

I got teased a lot in high school days and even now at times for not always following popular trends or kinda beating to the sound of my own drum when it comes to my look and what influences me. So I really embraced this ideal. I would rather have attention and stand out even if it's negative to some then to hold back and not be myself and just fade into the back drop of life.

"There is no beauty without some Strangeness". - Edgar Allan Poe

This is so meaningful. We are all so different and it's not being trendy or styish, it's not what you have or what you have done. I think what makes us truely beautiful is the quirks the little things that are different and that we share with those closest to us.

See you all again tomorrow,

Wednesday 5 November 2014

12 Days of Blogging Day 2

12 Days of Blogging Day 2

Todays topic is to review a product. I'm actually going to go with a product I used on Sunday and I thought it was fantastic but now, it's 3 days later and I have really mixed feelings on this one.

I recently used the John Frieda Precision Foam Colour in the shade Natural Black

This product is advertised as:

A breakthrough for home hair colouring with 24 flattering shades to choose from, achieving flawless, natural-looking results at home is now quick and easy.

Simply massage the foam into your hair to achieve flawless coverage you thought you could only get at a salon. No drips, no stains - just gorgeous-looking hair from every angle.

I picked this up as by chance cause I was in Walmart and the brand I normally buy is not carried there. It was $12.97 on roll back I think it was about $14.00 normally.

So mixing this was a breeze, it was a simple back and fourth tip of the bottle 5 tips to completely mix. I loved apply it as a foam. I had never used a foam dye before and it was really easy and fast to apply and get full coverage. I left it in for 30 min which was a the recommended max and that is always what I use.

It rinsed out faster then other brands I have used and I love the smell of the conditioner. Also the dye itself didn't have a really heavy chemical smell. After toweling my hair I was so pleased to see the colour was perfect and I had nearly no staining on my skin.

So the day I died it I loved it!!!

Two days later after the first wash not so much, I noticed A LOT!! of colour came out for a permanent dye. Now the colour is far less black and no long rich looking. Also the coverage on grey is horrible. Even though it boasted great grey coverage. Almost all my grey is noticeable already and it's only been a few days and 2 washes.

So that it. I am not pleased with the results and feel like I would need to touch up every member 3 weeks as apposed to 6 to sometimes 8 as with other brands.

On the plus side is was so much faster to mix, apply, and clean out. So not sure if I would purchase again maybe if the price was lower.

Be back again tomorrow for day 3!!

12 Days of Blogging Day 1

12 Days of Blogging Day 1

I came across this in a post by ChromoBeauty. This was orginally posted by stylestorms and I just thought it was a interesting idea and a good way to really get into, and stick with a tighter habit of daily or nearly daily blogging. Each day has a new question or theme to write about and I am really looking forward to a lot of these.

Day 1 question is: Why do you Blog?

I started doing this as something for myself. A bit of a outlet and a way to fill some of my downtime. I am at home full time with my children so this is a way for me to get more connected with the grown up world and do something that I really enjoy. I have always loved make-up fashion and style and love to share what I think of things and see what others are up to.

5 Random Facts about Me:

1.) I never wear coloured socks! I am a die hard white sock lover! I just don't like the feel of black or coloured socks and I have never gone for the printed or goofy sock trend. If I am not in my whites I am bare foot or wearing stockings.

2.) I'm a huge coffee drinker like 6-8 cups a day and aside from the normal first thing in the morning cup, my favourite most looked forward to cup of the day is after dinner. Just something about it completes the meal and relaxes me for the evening. I also have the ability to drinka cup at like 10:30 pm and still get to bed right afterwords.

3.) I hate Apples. I don't like the flavour or texture regardless if they are raw or cooked, part of a sweet dessert or a savory dish. I just do not like them, period.

4.) I love cold weather and winter snow storms. The cold harsh snap in the air when it's like -40 is just so invigorating to me, and I love watching heavy heavy snowfalls and the way wind whips the flakes around, especially against headlights or street lamps. There is a really magical element to it.

5.) I do not own a dishwasher. I know... it sucks but I just don't have the room.

Thanks for reading guys and again I am really looking forward to keeping this up for the full 12 day cycle!

Till tomorrow,

Fallen Angel Look

                                                             Fallen Angel Makeup Look

Fallen Angel Look

I posted a quick video and a few pictures of a look I did for Halloween this year. This the items and method I used for those who were interested.

Benefit Porefessional Primer

Revlon 24 hour Whipped Foundation Shade Buff Beige

Basic White Cream face painting make up

Mac Pro Long Wear Concealer Shade NC20

Face painting grease paint in black

Mac Eye shadow shade Shroom

Makeup Geek eye shadow shade Taupe Notch

Covergirl eye shadow don't know the shade, a matte dark grey

Annebelle eye shadow shade black

Skone liquid liner pen shade black

Gosh Extreme Art number 19 (silver glitter)

L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

Gosh Wonder Volume Mascara shade Black

Duo Lash Glue

Red Cherry Lashes #100

Mac Eye Kohl shade Smoulder

Hard Candy Tikki Bronzer

Lime Crime Velveteen shade Black Velvet

Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick shade Fire Engine

Rimmel silver eye gloss

I kept the outer corners of the eyes very black and the lid foiled. I smoked out the inner crease with the grey shades and blended out into the black. Heavy handed with the eyebrow and inner corner highlight. I also dragged the inner highlight pretty far under the eye to balance a lot of the darkness on the lids. To complete I added dramatic lashes and some touches of silver glitter on the inner corner of the eye lid.

For the lips I took the black only on the outer rim of my lips then filled in with the red lipstick then touched over the red with the silver gloss.

I didn't use any blush in this look as I wanted a very pale look. I used a good amount of highlight to bring up the cheek bones, and used a matte mid tone grey eye shadow to bring out a bit of contour under the cheek bones.

Halloween is over but this look could be tweaked and made into a really pretty New Years look with a change to a berry shaded lip.

Enjoy!

Oct Favs!

Oct Fav's

Changing things up a bit this month, I wanted to only include beauty items, with clothing and such it's just not working for me. So this a few of the items I purchased this month and have really enjoyed.

Bath and Body works fall haul - I picked up 1 Shea & Vitamin E body lotion in the scent Pear & Cashmere woods. This has a really sweet but earthy scent I love this for quick moisturizing during the day. Really uplifting. Also in the Shea & Vitamin E line I got a shower gel in the scent Pumpkin Latte & Marshmallow. Oh my god this smells so good!!!

As well grabbed three of the Triple Moisture Body Creams. Brown Sugar and Fig, Plum Moscato & Almond, and Honeycrisp Apple & Buttered Rum.

I got 6 of the mason jar candles, if your interested in hearing about the scents check on Bath & Body works website. Leaves, Sweater Weather, Autumn Sky, Hot Butter Rum, Caramel Pumpkin Swirl, and Pumpkin Latte.

Three of the Gentle Foaming Hand Soaps. Vampire Blood, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, and Pumpkin Cupcake.

Gerard Cosmetic Lipsticks - I am loving these lipsticks, great pigmentation and long lasting. See my blog entry for more info or my You tube channel review! Links at the bottom.

Julep nail polishes - I am really involved with these nail colours. They have quickly swept through my nail polish collection and taken over. The colour selections are gorgeous and the price is great with the deals on being a maven member. I will be posting a full in depth video review on my you tube channel, probably within a day or two at the most.

NYX Matte Setting Spray - This setting spray works so well and in combination with the Revlon foundation it has really just been the finishing touch to combating my oily skin. It's nice to spray, and dry's really quickly.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation - Hands down my favourite foundation. I love the feel of this on my skin it lays beautifully and the texture is amazing. It actually looks better the longer I wear it. Not to mention the packaging is great. It will be hard for me to find another drugstore brand to compare to this.

Velour Lashes - These Mink lashes and are useable for at least 25 times (unless you treat them badly). I got the "You Complete Me" lashes. First time getting these lashes. I cannot believe how light and fluffy these are. So comfortable to were and the look is just amazing.

So that's it for October. I did buy a lot of items but most were skincare, or boring refills of staple items.

Till next month!

Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick Review

Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick Review

I recently took advantage of the "AMAZING" discount at Gerard Cosmetics right now and I got all five of their lipsticks.

The price is $19.99 American.

Packaging: Gorgeous slick gold containers and the name stickers on the bottom are gold as well. Not sure why that would matter but for me it was a point scored. So these are very cute and look nice in your make up case, but the containers are a thinner plastic and they have that, wierd plastic container sound? Am I odd? I may be the only person on the planet who noticed this, but.. it is what it is.

The Colours!

Nude: This is a beauitful nude! A brown base makes this really nice on anyone, dark or light complextion.

1995: Gorgeous! It is the name. Put it on and was right back to junior high day dreaming in the cosmetic line about these types of shades, and still not being "old enough" for dark shades. Anyway.... This is a rich, red/brown shade. Really nice choice if you are afraid of stepping out in a red or berry shade. Or if the idea of wearing a brown lipstick reminds you of looking like you just slaughtered a bag or hersey's kisses.

Fire Engine: The name says it all. Bright stronger cool toned red shade. Good pigmentation.

Tequila Sunrise: Gorgeous warm toned Coral shade. Heavier on the orange/peachy base then pink. Really nice especially if you have a more olive skin tone, or a rich tan. I love coral lips and am relaly looking forward to breaking this one out for a lot of use come Spring.

All Dolled Up: Bright true Hot Pink. This colour is INTENSE! Completely cool toned and very fluid colour. No streakiness.

These lipsticks have a rich formula and apply nicely. I haven't worn all the shades yet, but yesterday I wore 1995 for about 6 hours out to dinner and it lasted all night. A bit of fading and there was transfer when smooching or touching my lips but I was pleased to not have to check my teeth constently or see that lipstick ring on the glasses or utensils. The colour looked great all night. The only issue I had was this morning my lips were very very dry and chapped. Which is unusally as I use a good lip moisturer in the evenings. Needless to say I will have to wear this brand a few more times to pin point if the formulation was the cause or perhaps the weather, dry indoor heat etc was to blame.

If you are interested in these lipsticks or any of the Gerard Cosmetics products check out there website
http://www.gerardcosmetics.com/

Coupon code for lipsticks get all 5 shades for $45.00 reg price is $95.00 for the 5 pack or $19.99 each!

Sept Haul

Sept Haul

Another month passed. Summer has come to a end and the chilly sweater weather has arrived. Feel that snow coming in the air. Enough of the sentament lets get to the haul. I got A LOT of stuff this month, went a little crazy but such is life sometimes. I didn't include anything that was received in a subscription box, only add ons and additional box items.

The only skincare item I purchased was Rimmel London's Just Let It Go... Gentle eye make up remover. This is a oil free make up remover. Used this for about 2 weeks now and it works really well to remove all product quickly but... it does sting my eyes a bit... not sure if this will be a repurchase.

Also received in my Beautybox 5 Mystery box which was a additional purchase to the monthly subscription box an hydrating treatment from Face Oasis. This is a oil free marine hydration treatment that deeply hydrates and visibly plumps fine lines. Have not tested this one out yet.

Oh... one more also from the Beauty Box 5 mystery box. Vitabath sulfate & paraben free bodywash in the scent Wild Red Cherry. Meh it's a bodywash haven't used it yet.

For nails this month I went nuts! I got a subscripton box from Julep and have fallen in love with the selection on the site, so right off the hop I ordered an addtional 6 shades. I have now had a chance to use them, and I love the formulation! Such a smooth application and just everything about them I love. The shades I got are Lois (pearlesant dusty pink), Vera(olive green with brownish hue), Helen(lilac pinkish hue), Cody(bright orange with a hint of coral), Catrina(bright canary yellow), and Dawn(yellow/lime green). In addtion to those I received a great red polish from Nicka K NY139. Again I haven't had a chance to wear this colour yet but I look forward to it.

Face make up I picked up a Hard Candy Tiki bronzer. I have heard a lot of good about it and I was at Walmart so figured I would try it out. I have to say the colour is beautiful, gives a really pretty highlight, I hate to say but I find this almost the same as Mac Soft and Gentle, but a little more glowy if that makes sense. However, this is made from a few less then favourable products. Normally I stay away from low end products because of this. I have sensitive skin and a try to not put products on my face or in my body that aren't good quality. So pretty as it may be I still will not purchase this again.

Also I got the 60 ml bottle of NYX Matte Finish long lasting setting spray. So far I like this a lot, now that holiday season is approching and there is going to be a whole lotta outtings and partys and days were a look is going to have to last 16 or more hours I wanted to try a few different setting sprays. This one so far is working really well, it does leave a matte finish which I need as I am super super oily. I can't atest to how long lasting it is yet but I will let you know.

Now for the lips, I only purchased the 2 L'oreal Privee collection lipsticks which I had in my review. Jennifer's Nude and Eva's Nude. Love them both and the formula for these lipsticks is so nice and creamy.

Eyes eyes eyes.... I got a gorgeous pallet in gunmetal from Make up Geek along with 12 shadows. Amzing! Check out my review for more, as well I did a video review on my You Tube channel. The shades I purchased are Vanilla Bean, Frappe, Latte, Mocha, Taupe Notch, Peach smoothie, Chickadee, Mango Tango, Razzleberry, Cupcake, Burlesque, and Bitten.

Two other items from the Beauty Box 5 mystery box. A sample set of shadows from Bh cosmetics. This is a sample of the California collection. There is 3 shadows, one from Hollywood which is a deep rich eggplant with shimmer, San Francisco this one is a warm mid tone sand colour with a lot of shimmer, and finally Malibu this is a warm shimmery Golden shade. Last but not least was a small sample of Natural Glam Mascara in shade Black, now honest I know nothing about this item, I assume this is an all natural product.

I got a few clothing items and acsessories this month. All pieces were found on Ebay boots from Beyond The Rack.

Five peice cuff braclette. I thought the rose cream coloured cuff would be perfect to mix with darker warm clothing in the fall and then mix in with crisp whites for soft more anglic looks in the winter. Silver toned bib necklace, lots of glitter and a little edgy. This gold and green pendant I love. I really like the look of old Victorian pieces and something clean, simple, and still heavy enough to ground a look. This piece does that for me and is styled after the pendent worn by Wendy on Witches of East End, that show is a guilty pleasure for me.

For clothing I picked up two sweaters. One is a lovely bright red with thick ruffled collar. I just love this, so snuggly and looks amazing paired with a great pair of boots. The second top is a thin body hugging bold leopard print. This one does not close but gives a nicew 3/4 sleeve coverage and hangs to just above me knees.

I got a cute pair of black mirco suede peep toe ankle booties from Bambo. The are one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own! Love them to death and were on a awesome sale from Beyond The Rack.

So thats the lot of it. If you want or need more info of any of the products or companies named below please leave a comment!

10 Pan Challenge Post

Came across this challenge and thought this would be great way to clean out a few of my nearly done items. I know the bases was for items with "pan" but I am horrible for having lotions and body sprays and the like that are hanging around in the 1/4 or less left area. I tried to do a little over everything so here it goes. So I will not be buying any new items in the following areas until I use up these listed items.

Bath and Body Works Body Splash in Night-blooming Jasmine - Love this scent, clean and very soft and feminine. I use body sprays daily so it won 'to be too much of a stretch to finish this bottle off.

Victoria's Secret Mango Temptation Hydrating Body Lotion - nice smelling lotion for summer. I have a horrid habit of never finishing lotions. I will typically have 5-8 different bottles going per season. This will be hard cause I want to bust into the richer fall scents.

Live Clean (spa therapy) Polishing Body Scrub - I like this scrub but.... Any scrubs or masks that come in squeeze tubes become hard to work with after you use so much. I think I may actually squeeze this out into a jar so I don't have to wrestle with the bottle in the shower.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Micro-sculpting Scrub Cleanser - just another cleanser nearing it's end.

Mary Kay Cosmetics Eye Primer - not a fan of this product. Picked it up at a Mary Kay party a few months ago. The tube is great I like the pointed applicator and the price was good. I think around $10.00 but I hate the texture, very sticky and I get creasing and oiliness on the lid about 2 hours after applying. Lucky this is a small product and I should be able to breeze through this cause I am really wanted to try some new primers.

Covergirl pressed powder - this one was at the cottage for the summer, already hit pan.

Lise Watier Cashmere Eyeshadow Quartet in Prune - really nice pallet! It came in a little deep purple cashmere sweater! Love the colours in this and the formula just don't seem to grab for it to often. This has 4 shades. One matte neutral shade, a very light lilac with shimmer, a deep plum with shimmer, and a warm medium tone brown with shimmer. I have already hit pan on all but the dark plum. This can definitely be revitalized with the fall season.

Gosh Cosmetics Wonder Volume Mascara - got this long ago and had not used it much as I didn't find. It volumized much, but it separates the lashes beautifully and works great as a lower lash mascara.

Revlon Lip Lustre in Currant Affair - Don't care for the consistency of this gloss so it's hardly used but the colour is pretty, maybe I can work with this to change it a bit. Any suggestions?

So wish me luck, I think this is a great challenge idea and encourage you guys to join in!

Personal Style

" it is better to be looked over then overlooked" Mae West

One of my most taken to heart quotes. I think there is a time and a place for every look but finding a way to really make your personality shine through in every look you have is so important.

My top musts:

Scent – for me this is key. The right scent whether it's something heavy and sultry for a night out for a simple clean body spray during the day around the house can complete your style. The perfect smell gives the impression that you look after yourself and can create a lasting impression that can comfort or intrigue those around you.

The walk – how many times did your mother tell you not to drag your feet as a child? Your walk reflects your mood. A purposeful stride shows confidence, purpose, and an air of power. Oh and ladies sway those hips you never know who's watching! ;)

Health – look after yourself! Everything you put in your body is later reflected on the outside.

Lacy and racy – a hint of lace under a neckline, the seam of a black stocking, or fishnets peeking out of a peep toe. Even on a home day like today with nothing going on other than cleaning my bathtub and laundry I still have to have a little something special on under my sweats. A sexy bra and panties can make you feel sexier the moment you put them on even if nobody ever sees it.

It's all in the flutter – Lashes, lashes, lashes. They frame the face and can bring drama in a second. I always do a coat of mascara. Around the house just a quick coat of black to separate and make them nice and tidy. Running errands or having family and friends over I will throw on a couple coats of something with a plumping and volumizing effect. Going out it's almost always a pair of false lashes. If you're going to an evening party or big event it's time to turn up the volume bring out the superlong super thick lovelies and rocked them if you can.

Heels – plain and simple, heels as often as you can and as high as you can. With so many styles out there there's no excuses ladies!

Fit – wear the right size. Nothing does less for a woman then seeing them squeezed into something that's too small or losing their shape and something baggy and droopy. Take the time to get a proper fit.

Attitude – it's all about what's on the inside, if you believe you are beautiful than you are. Simple as that. No person in this world has a more important opinion about you than yourself.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows and L'Oreal Privee Lipstick Review

Makeup Geek eyeshadows

I previously owned a individual of Vanilla Bean and fell in love with the formula. Really rich and smooth application and highly pigmented. Also at a amazing price!

I picked up 12 eyeshadows along with the to go pallet in gunmetal. This pallet holds up to 15 eyeshadows which is perfect because there are still 2 shades I want to add that were out of stock when I ordered.

Shades I got are as follows:
Vanilla Bean - Creamy soft warm white.
Latte - Light cool tone brown.
Frappe - Medium warm brown, more of a yellow undertone.
Mocha - Rich warm true brown.
Taupe Notch - Nice shimmery shade  to bring warm and cool shades together in one look.
Peach Smoothie - Gorgeous soft peach shade, great for transitions.
Cupcake - Perfect matte mauve pink.
Mango Tango - Really pretty pinky peach with light shimmer.
Razzleberry - Such a rich pink berry shade with lots of sparkle. Goes on really smooth, no chalkiness at all.
Burlesque - Gorge! Deep purple with a nice shimmer. Dying to use this for some dark and sultry looks this fall.
Bitten - Heavenly purple, red, brown shade. Perfect marriage or earthy browns and deep berry shades.
Chickadee - Clean smooth mustardy yellow. Looks really nice blended with warm browns.

The second purchase was the L'Oreal  privee lipsticks. I saw these a while ago and I really loved the Jennifer Lopez and the Julianne Moore shades.  For whatever reason I didn't end up picking them up and as a result I have been searching high and low for them. Long story short, I got the Jennifer at shoppers this past week and then happen to be at Walmart later that evening and ended up getting Eva a shade. I pick this one over the Julianne shade as I thought this would be a nice shade for the fall season.

Fall Make Up Trends

Fall make up trends as per NYFW

1.) Full brows, berry lips – Berry shades are lovely and great for fall. Full brow, I like the look but not on myself personally, I like a thinner brow. I came of age in the make up trend of thin arched penciled on brows and I still have a fond spot in my heart for that look but more modern.

2.) Glittery green eyes – I love green shadows so this is a hell yeah for me!

3.) Smoky brown eyes – What's not to love the perfect go to eye. Can be as extreme or settle as you like.

4.) Jewel tone eyes and lips – Again love this. You have to have the confidence to pull it off. Not something I think would look good on someone to young but definitely something I plan on doing a lot this season.

5.) Glittery brown lips – Meh, what can I say about this look. I think it's a mess. I had a very pale complexion so I feel it makes me look sickly and I just don't like the look of it overall. I will say on someone with a darker complexion this can look really beautiful.

6.) Silvershadow – Usually something I equate more with winter but this is definitely a Yep.

So that's a wrap on the upcoming trends the season for make up, thoughts? Comments? Do you hate some of these? What do you love? And are you going to try these?

Fall preview

Oh fall! My favorite season. Falling leaves, the cool crisp air, tires, snuggly blankets and steamy hot beverages. Dark nights, bright days, last of fresh garden veggies. The start of warm baked goods, one pot dinners and comforting soups.

Best of all is the color palette!!! Rich reds and oranges, deep Barry shades, warm browns, and deep dark jewel tones. Inky blacks and soft creamy beige is to pull it all together.

So to celebrate this glorious season I will be including a lot of warm cozy meals to curl up with and some great fall looks. I really enjoy this time of year. With the Heagon make up stays put and you can really pump up the drama with your looks. Not to mention the holiday parties on the horizon. For us Canadians it kicks off early October with Thanksgiving. This to me is a perfect time for warm sweaters, fab boots and rich dark make up colours.

Then Halloween. What's not to love you can pretty much get away with anything and everything.

Then we launch right into winter with the first snowfall's enjoys the Christmas season. This is another topic all in itself.

To touch on my thoughts on some of the upcoming fall fashion trends, this is the top trends as defined by Elle magazine. If I've missed anything let me know.

1.) Robe style coats – How much do I hate this?! A lot! Really to me it just looks sloppy, unwearable, and honestly one of my biggest peeves is seeing people out and about in anything that looks like PJs or sweats. This is just an expensive form of that. I want to see layers and figures not frumpy Boxee shapes.

2.) 60s influence – This I can get on board with as long as it's not been overdone. I like touches the past decades. Acute my dress with current boots, or accessories with the modern make up look. Don't pull. Style into all areas at once or you risk looking costume-ish.

3.) Knits – When is this not a staple style for fall. Love it casual or dressy, comfy or sexy. You can get it all, and in multiple colours.

4.) Oversized coats – Again this is a no go for me. If you worked hard all summer sporting a great body then keep it going and let us see your shape ladies! I love layers, not drowning in fabric.

5.) Straitjackets – Okay not literally but the wraparound is on the runways. Yuck!

6.) Norse code – Patterns heavily influenced by North designs. Why not the lands of ice and snow are a perfect place for inspiration. Getting in touch with my heritage and roots and being on trend all-in-one.

7.) Apocalypse now – A little mad Max, a little beaten, battered, and torn. Done in pieces cool. Who doesn't want to rock a fierce leather and some shredded jeans. Again keep it to pieces and not the whole deal, you don't want to scream street bum or prepped!!

8.) Astrakhan – Really interesting fur from sheep. I think this one is on point!

9.) Dresses over pants – Oh my God! I hate it.

10.) Western – Love it!! Yes please! Reminds me of a few years ago DSquared's collection I believe it was winter 2011 that was front tier meets ice. Loved it then in this feels very much the same.

11.) Muppet babies – Seriously coloured Shearling, ugh!

12.) Extreme turtlenecks – Yep I have a long neck I can rock this look, if you're more petite or someone who carries a little extra weight in the face probably not it would give the appearance of drowning.

13.) Fur - Real fur, to each their own, this look is all based on your budget and morals. If you like it    rocket if you don't then don't.

14.) Sneakers – Hate it!!!! Sneakers are for working out. Unless you're under 18 sneakers should not be part of your going out wardrobe.

Aug Haul/Reviews

I have gotten a few items this month that I haven't talked about so I thought being month end this would be the perfect chance. As well to go through a few other items I have purchased this month.

As I mentioned before in my Josie Maren review post, I picked up the 100% Argan oil light and I love it. Highly recommended especially if you have oily skin. It has in the past few weeks drastically reduced my oiliness and the level of large pores and breakouts. The brightness and silky smooth texture of my skin is wonderful as well.

The argon lip treatment is very nice. Not noticing any plumping or any real moisturizing difference from other brands, but the bottle is killer cute and the smell and texture are really pleasing.

Staying on skincare I have also started using the Origins a perfect world antioxidant moisturizer with white tea. Nice formula, feels nice on the skin with a pretty soft scent. Above all it gives moisture back after using my toner, but not so much that it's added to any oiliness.

Garnier skin naturals fresh cleansing cloths. So I ran out of my pond cleaning cloths and was just not feeling the best, and generally really lazy so I grabbed these the grocery store to save making a separate stop at the drugstore. Not bad. Not great. I have to use two cloths to get the same clean as with Ponds. It doesn't touch my mascara or lash adhesive. Does have a nice scent and at $7.99 for 25 it's a cheap option.

Maybelline the elixir in pedal plush and breathtaking apricot - Love them to bits want more I think I have express that enough in my review and times used my looks.

Mac blush and Sunbasque. The perfect summer blush for near no make up days, or glam looks. Great problems with the pink tone and a soft shimmer. A definite must-have for next summer.

Only one lipstick this month, lime crime is babe it. Nothing tops lime crime for lipsticks as far as I am concerned. I want to this one for a while now but it is always been out of stock. Finally I have my hands on it! Love!!!

Finally found a nail polish that actually lasts. The C&D vinyl Lux nail polish in shade lush tropics. Not a full week where but I have gotten a good for almost 5 days before chipping. Most brands are lucky to last me 48 hours.

Merrell activewear apricot tank top. Great color and style, feel so good. Keeps the girls lockdown. Really great for outdoor activities when you need support in moisture control without having to look completely gym gear.

Black jegging's – love, cute, comfy and perfect for fall winter transitions.

Make up storage trays from IKEA – have not used yet.

And........ A bath and Bodyworks order. Three wick candles in watermelon lemonade, and peach cilantro twist. Hand soap's in ginger peach, I need nectarines, Eucalyptus mint, cozy vanilla cream, a walk in the woods, and crisp morning air(start getting into the fall scents).

Maybelline the Elixir Review

So these came out a while back but I just developed a love for them this summer. I picked up my first one at shoppers in late June. I got the shade Raspberry Rhapsody. I love a dark berry or wine stain during the cold months, but sometimes have trouble finding a similar shade, that carries a bright juicy colour for a bright punchy summer lip.

Let me say this hit the spot! I love the color pay off. The bottle and applicator are adorable. Not too sticky and gives a good amount of moisture. This formula works beautifully over lipsticks.

Shades I own:

Raspberry Rhapsody- lovely Barry tone, gives nice depth when paired over a bright pink lipstick shade (such as Lime Crime Geredium)

Breathtaking Apricot- perfect coral shade for the summer, love it alone or paired over a soft pale pink lipstick for extra boost. Very vibrant. Love to pair this with Mac cosmetics Sunbest blush for simple quick wash of color on the natural face.

Petal Plush- gorgeous baby pink, love it best over nude lipstick (Lime Crime Coquette, Mac Myth)

This is a must-have for your purse. Now go grab some!

Thai Style Potato Leek Soup

Thai Style Potato Leek Soup

Ingredients:

Coconut oil (just enough to cut bottom of pan)
1 teaspoon Garam masala spice blend
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 1/2 pounds fingerling potatoes, diced
2 Garlic cloves, chopped
2 jalapeno peppers, diced
One leak, sliced
1 teaspoon ginger, grated
Water
Pinch of salt
1 tablespoon Soy sauce
1 can Coconut milk
1 Lime, zest and juice

Heat oil in good soup pot (I prefer a cast iron Dutch oven) over medium high heat. Add spices and toast lightly. Fry the potatoes, garlic, jalapeno peppers, and ginger until golden. Add enough water to cover and add salt. Bring to a boil then reduce to simmer, cook and cover for 30 minutes.

Reduce heat to low, and blend with an immersion blender until smooth. Add coconut milk, soy sauce, and lime. Stir and serve. If you like top with lemongrass or chopped cashews.

Enjoy!

* you can omit the pinch of salt if you were looking to reduce sodium intake. There is enough in the soy sauce to flavor the soup.

* any light oil can be used if you do not have coconut oil.

* if using ginger powder instead of fresh ginger, add it in with other spaces.

Love this look when I am running around and don't have a chance to change up from day to evening. Dramatic eyes with neutral sheets makes it wearable for day into evening. Annabelle Eyebrow Pencil shade 50 black
Makeup Geek eyeshadow shade vanilla Bean
Mac eyeshadow shade soft brown

Full Josie Maran Review

Last week I received my first order from Josie Maran. Firstly I will say the website format and service is great. I received my shipment very quickly with reasonable rates. Living in Canada sometimes shipping costs from other companies can be killer!

I purchased the travel size 100% Argan oil light.

Product description: A featherweight version of the world champion of oils. 100% Argan oil light moisturizes deeply and absorbs quickly, leaving a semi matte finish. First coldpressed to protect its healthy, hydrating properties and ideal for all skin types, especially breakout prone and sensitive skin.

I was for the longest time apprehensive about using a beauty oil on my skin as I am so oily. Much to my pleasure this product works amazingly!

I have used it every night before bed applying 2 to 3 drops on my fingers and then massaging into my face after my usual cleansing routine. Such a smooth lightweight formula, even right after applying I don't feel greasy and when I wake in the morning there isn't as much oil as previously. I would say about 60% reduction right after the first few days of using it. Such a difference in fact that if I don't apply make up I can get away with not having to block oil off my face until nearly dinner time, and my day starts about 6:30 AM. With make up the oil comes back but again not nearly as bad, and it's cut down on the amount of time doing touchups throughout the day. I think come winter this will leave my skin perfect.

Aside from the oil reduction I have a very noticeable glow to the skin, healthier looking and the softness is incredible. The only issue I have remaining is a lot of texture on my four head and cheeks which I am still on the hunt for a good product to help with this, but that is a subject for a different time.

I also purchased the argon lip treatment.

Product description: Apply naturally age-defying argon lip treatment generously throughout the day. Lips are instantly moisturized and lastingly protected; they appear softer, smoother and plumper.

It has a lovely strawberries and cream scent, feels really smooth on, and comes in the world's cutest bottle. I have not noticed any pumping quality, but it does hydrate. I have been using it for overnight is during the day I like something a little heavier so I don't have to reapply as often.

Overall loved both products, highly recommend are going well! Love it! I look forward to purchasing more from this company.

New Josie Maran order arrived

Got my new Josie Maran order today.

Picked up the Argan lip treatment. Looking forward to this. I get very dry lips in contrast to having oily skin. So finding a good product to hydrate them overnight is key. As well who doesn't want the plumping factor right?

Also got the 100% Argan oil light. I have very oily skin  so I've been hesitant to try using beauty oils. Even though I keep reading and hearing to combat oil use more oil. So I opted to go with the travel size of the light oil to try and see how that works.

Can't wait to try them out! Will do a full review next week.

Welcome

Hey All,

So obviously this is my first post.

I have been toying with the idea of doing a blog for a while now. A place where I can express my interest in both the world of health and fitness, and beauty and fashion.
I want to create a unified space to handle both realms as I have found it can be one or the other when searching for info. I really would like to create something that is congruent to the needs of both a fit and fashion forward woman.

I want to post as often as I can. This will kind of be like a grown-up public version of the journal for me. Some of the things I will include our fashion styles, make up looks, and product reviews. As well as recipes, exercise routines, and other interesting health-related topics.

Quick disclaimer. I am not a dietitian. I am not a personal trainer. I am not in any fashion retail business. I am not aesthetician. Hairstylist. Or make up artist.
