Sept Haul

Sept Haul

Another month passed. Summer has come to a end and the chilly sweater weather has arrived. Feel that snow coming in the air. Enough of the sentament lets get to the haul. I got A LOT of stuff this month, went a little crazy but such is life sometimes. I didn't include anything that was received in a subscription box, only add ons and additional box items.

The only skincare item I purchased was Rimmel London's Just Let It Go... Gentle eye make up remover. This is a oil free make up remover. Used this for about 2 weeks now and it works really well to remove all product quickly but... it does sting my eyes a bit... not sure if this will be a repurchase.

Also received in my Beautybox 5 Mystery box which was a additional purchase to the monthly subscription box an hydrating treatment from Face Oasis. This is a oil free marine hydration treatment that deeply hydrates and visibly plumps fine lines. Have not tested this one out yet.

Oh... one more also from the Beauty Box 5 mystery box. Vitabath sulfate & paraben free bodywash in the scent Wild Red Cherry. Meh it's a bodywash haven't used it yet.

For nails this month I went nuts! I got a subscripton box from Julep and have fallen in love with the selection on the site, so right off the hop I ordered an addtional 6 shades. I have now had a chance to use them, and I love the formulation! Such a smooth application and just everything about them I love. The shades I got are Lois (pearlesant dusty pink), Vera(olive green with brownish hue), Helen(lilac pinkish hue), Cody(bright orange with a hint of coral), Catrina(bright canary yellow), and Dawn(yellow/lime green). In addtion to those I received a great red polish from Nicka K NY139. Again I haven't had a chance to wear this colour yet but I look forward to it.

Face make up I picked up a Hard Candy Tiki bronzer. I have heard a lot of good about it and I was at Walmart so figured I would try it out. I have to say the colour is beautiful, gives a really pretty highlight, I hate to say but I find this almost the same as Mac Soft and Gentle, but a little more glowy if that makes sense. However, this is made from a few less then favourable products. Normally I stay away from low end products because of this. I have sensitive skin and a try to not put products on my face or in my body that aren't good quality. So pretty as it may be I still will not purchase this again.

Also I got the 60 ml bottle of NYX Matte Finish long lasting setting spray. So far I like this a lot, now that holiday season is approching and there is going to be a whole lotta outtings and partys and days were a look is going to have to last 16 or more hours I wanted to try a few different setting sprays. This one so far is working really well, it does leave a matte finish which I need as I am super super oily. I can't atest to how long lasting it is yet but I will let you know.

Now for the lips, I only purchased the 2 L'oreal Privee collection lipsticks which I had in my review. Jennifer's Nude and Eva's Nude. Love them both and the formula for these lipsticks is so nice and creamy.

Eyes eyes eyes.... I got a gorgeous pallet in gunmetal from Make up Geek along with 12 shadows. Amzing! Check out my review for more, as well I did a video review on my You Tube channel. The shades I purchased are Vanilla Bean, Frappe, Latte, Mocha, Taupe Notch, Peach smoothie, Chickadee, Mango Tango, Razzleberry, Cupcake, Burlesque, and Bitten.

Two other items from the Beauty Box 5 mystery box. A sample set of shadows from Bh cosmetics. This is a sample of the California collection. There is 3 shadows, one from Hollywood which is a deep rich eggplant with shimmer, San Francisco this one is a warm mid tone sand colour with a lot of shimmer, and finally Malibu this is a warm shimmery Golden shade. Last but not least was a small sample of Natural Glam Mascara in shade Black, now honest I know nothing about this item, I assume this is an all natural product.

I got a few clothing items and acsessories this month. All pieces were found on Ebay boots from Beyond The Rack.

Five peice cuff braclette. I thought the rose cream coloured cuff would be perfect to mix with darker warm clothing in the fall and then mix in with crisp whites for soft more anglic looks in the winter. Silver toned bib necklace, lots of glitter and a little edgy. This gold and green pendant I love. I really like the look of old Victorian pieces and something clean, simple, and still heavy enough to ground a look. This piece does that for me and is styled after the pendent worn by Wendy on Witches of East End, that show is a guilty pleasure for me.

For clothing I picked up two sweaters. One is a lovely bright red with thick ruffled collar. I just love this, so snuggly and looks amazing paired with a great pair of boots. The second top is a thin body hugging bold leopard print. This one does not close but gives a nicew 3/4 sleeve coverage and hangs to just above me knees.

I got a cute pair of black mirco suede peep toe ankle booties from Bambo. The are one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own! Love them to death and were on a awesome sale from Beyond The Rack.

So thats the lot of it. If you want or need more info of any of the products or companies named below please leave a comment!

10 Pan Challenge Post

Came across this challenge and thought this would be great way to clean out a few of my nearly done items. I know the bases was for items with "pan" but I am horrible for having lotions and body sprays and the like that are hanging around in the 1/4 or less left area. I tried to do a little over everything so here it goes. So I will not be buying any new items in the following areas until I use up these listed items.

Bath and Body Works Body Splash in Night-blooming Jasmine - Love this scent, clean and very soft and feminine. I use body sprays daily so it won 'to be too much of a stretch to finish this bottle off.

Victoria's Secret Mango Temptation Hydrating Body Lotion - nice smelling lotion for summer. I have a horrid habit of never finishing lotions. I will typically have 5-8 different bottles going per season. This will be hard cause I want to bust into the richer fall scents.

Live Clean (spa therapy) Polishing Body Scrub - I like this scrub but.... Any scrubs or masks that come in squeeze tubes become hard to work with after you use so much. I think I may actually squeeze this out into a jar so I don't have to wrestle with the bottle in the shower.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Micro-sculpting Scrub Cleanser - just another cleanser nearing it's end.

Mary Kay Cosmetics Eye Primer - not a fan of this product. Picked it up at a Mary Kay party a few months ago. The tube is great I like the pointed applicator and the price was good. I think around $10.00 but I hate the texture, very sticky and I get creasing and oiliness on the lid about 2 hours after applying. Lucky this is a small product and I should be able to breeze through this cause I am really wanted to try some new primers.

Covergirl pressed powder - this one was at the cottage for the summer, already hit pan.

Lise Watier Cashmere Eyeshadow Quartet in Prune - really nice pallet! It came in a little deep purple cashmere sweater! Love the colours in this and the formula just don't seem to grab for it to often. This has 4 shades. One matte neutral shade, a very light lilac with shimmer, a deep plum with shimmer, and a warm medium tone brown with shimmer. I have already hit pan on all but the dark plum. This can definitely be revitalized with the fall season.

Gosh Cosmetics Wonder Volume Mascara - got this long ago and had not used it much as I didn't find. It volumized much, but it separates the lashes beautifully and works great as a lower lash mascara.

Revlon Lip Lustre in Currant Affair - Don't care for the consistency of this gloss so it's hardly used but the colour is pretty, maybe I can work with this to change it a bit. Any suggestions?

So wish me luck, I think this is a great challenge idea and encourage you guys to join in!

Personal Style

" it is better to be looked over then overlooked" Mae West

One of my most taken to heart quotes. I think there is a time and a place for every look but finding a way to really make your personality shine through in every look you have is so important.

My top musts:

Scent – for me this is key. The right scent whether it's something heavy and sultry for a night out for a simple clean body spray during the day around the house can complete your style. The perfect smell gives the impression that you look after yourself and can create a lasting impression that can comfort or intrigue those around you.

The walk – how many times did your mother tell you not to drag your feet as a child? Your walk reflects your mood. A purposeful stride shows confidence, purpose, and an air of power. Oh and ladies sway those hips you never know who's watching! ;)

Health – look after yourself! Everything you put in your body is later reflected on the outside.

Lacy and racy – a hint of lace under a neckline, the seam of a black stocking, or fishnets peeking out of a peep toe. Even on a home day like today with nothing going on other than cleaning my bathtub and laundry I still have to have a little something special on under my sweats. A sexy bra and panties can make you feel sexier the moment you put them on even if nobody ever sees it.

It's all in the flutter – Lashes, lashes, lashes. They frame the face and can bring drama in a second. I always do a coat of mascara. Around the house just a quick coat of black to separate and make them nice and tidy. Running errands or having family and friends over I will throw on a couple coats of something with a plumping and volumizing effect. Going out it's almost always a pair of false lashes. If you're going to an evening party or big event it's time to turn up the volume bring out the superlong super thick lovelies and rocked them if you can.

Heels – plain and simple, heels as often as you can and as high as you can. With so many styles out there there's no excuses ladies!

Fit – wear the right size. Nothing does less for a woman then seeing them squeezed into something that's too small or losing their shape and something baggy and droopy. Take the time to get a proper fit.

Attitude – it's all about what's on the inside, if you believe you are beautiful than you are. Simple as that. No person in this world has a more important opinion about you than yourself.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows and L'Oreal Privee Lipstick Review

Makeup Geek eyeshadows

I previously owned a individual of Vanilla Bean and fell in love with the formula. Really rich and smooth application and highly pigmented. Also at a amazing price!

I picked up 12 eyeshadows along with the to go pallet in gunmetal. This pallet holds up to 15 eyeshadows which is perfect because there are still 2 shades I want to add that were out of stock when I ordered.

Shades I got are as follows:
Vanilla Bean - Creamy soft warm white.
Latte - Light cool tone brown.
Frappe - Medium warm brown, more of a yellow undertone.
Mocha - Rich warm true brown.
Taupe Notch - Nice shimmery shade  to bring warm and cool shades together in one look.
Peach Smoothie - Gorgeous soft peach shade, great for transitions.
Cupcake - Perfect matte mauve pink.
Mango Tango - Really pretty pinky peach with light shimmer.
Razzleberry - Such a rich pink berry shade with lots of sparkle. Goes on really smooth, no chalkiness at all.
Burlesque - Gorge! Deep purple with a nice shimmer. Dying to use this for some dark and sultry looks this fall.
Bitten - Heavenly purple, red, brown shade. Perfect marriage or earthy browns and deep berry shades.
Chickadee - Clean smooth mustardy yellow. Looks really nice blended with warm browns.

The second purchase was the L'Oreal  privee lipsticks. I saw these a while ago and I really loved the Jennifer Lopez and the Julianne Moore shades.  For whatever reason I didn't end up picking them up and as a result I have been searching high and low for them. Long story short, I got the Jennifer at shoppers this past week and then happen to be at Walmart later that evening and ended up getting Eva a shade. I pick this one over the Julianne shade as I thought this would be a nice shade for the fall season.

Fall Make Up Trends

Fall make up trends as per NYFW

1.) Full brows, berry lips – Berry shades are lovely and great for fall. Full brow, I like the look but not on myself personally, I like a thinner brow. I came of age in the make up trend of thin arched penciled on brows and I still have a fond spot in my heart for that look but more modern.

2.) Glittery green eyes – I love green shadows so this is a hell yeah for me!

3.) Smoky brown eyes – What's not to love the perfect go to eye. Can be as extreme or settle as you like.

4.) Jewel tone eyes and lips – Again love this. You have to have the confidence to pull it off. Not something I think would look good on someone to young but definitely something I plan on doing a lot this season.

5.) Glittery brown lips – Meh, what can I say about this look. I think it's a mess. I had a very pale complexion so I feel it makes me look sickly and I just don't like the look of it overall. I will say on someone with a darker complexion this can look really beautiful.

6.) Silvershadow – Usually something I equate more with winter but this is definitely a Yep.

So that's a wrap on the upcoming trends the season for make up, thoughts? Comments? Do you hate some of these? What do you love? And are you going to try these?

Fall preview

Oh fall! My favorite season. Falling leaves, the cool crisp air, tires, snuggly blankets and steamy hot beverages. Dark nights, bright days, last of fresh garden veggies. The start of warm baked goods, one pot dinners and comforting soups.

Best of all is the color palette!!! Rich reds and oranges, deep Barry shades, warm browns, and deep dark jewel tones. Inky blacks and soft creamy beige is to pull it all together.

So to celebrate this glorious season I will be including a lot of warm cozy meals to curl up with and some great fall looks. I really enjoy this time of year. With the Heagon make up stays put and you can really pump up the drama with your looks. Not to mention the holiday parties on the horizon. For us Canadians it kicks off early October with Thanksgiving. This to me is a perfect time for warm sweaters, fab boots and rich dark make up colours.

Then Halloween. What's not to love you can pretty much get away with anything and everything.

Then we launch right into winter with the first snowfall's enjoys the Christmas season. This is another topic all in itself.

To touch on my thoughts on some of the upcoming fall fashion trends, this is the top trends as defined by Elle magazine. If I've missed anything let me know.

1.) Robe style coats – How much do I hate this?! A lot! Really to me it just looks sloppy, unwearable, and honestly one of my biggest peeves is seeing people out and about in anything that looks like PJs or sweats. This is just an expensive form of that. I want to see layers and figures not frumpy Boxee shapes.

2.) 60s influence – This I can get on board with as long as it's not been overdone. I like touches the past decades. Acute my dress with current boots, or accessories with the modern make up look. Don't pull. Style into all areas at once or you risk looking costume-ish.

3.) Knits – When is this not a staple style for fall. Love it casual or dressy, comfy or sexy. You can get it all, and in multiple colours.

4.) Oversized coats – Again this is a no go for me. If you worked hard all summer sporting a great body then keep it going and let us see your shape ladies! I love layers, not drowning in fabric.

5.) Straitjackets – Okay not literally but the wraparound is on the runways. Yuck!

6.) Norse code – Patterns heavily influenced by North designs. Why not the lands of ice and snow are a perfect place for inspiration. Getting in touch with my heritage and roots and being on trend all-in-one.

7.) Apocalypse now – A little mad Max, a little beaten, battered, and torn. Done in pieces cool. Who doesn't want to rock a fierce leather and some shredded jeans. Again keep it to pieces and not the whole deal, you don't want to scream street bum or prepped!!

8.) Astrakhan – Really interesting fur from sheep. I think this one is on point!

9.) Dresses over pants – Oh my God! I hate it.

10.) Western – Love it!! Yes please! Reminds me of a few years ago DSquared's collection I believe it was winter 2011 that was front tier meets ice. Loved it then in this feels very much the same.

11.) Muppet babies – Seriously coloured Shearling, ugh!

12.) Extreme turtlenecks – Yep I have a long neck I can rock this look, if you're more petite or someone who carries a little extra weight in the face probably not it would give the appearance of drowning.

13.) Fur - Real fur, to each their own, this look is all based on your budget and morals. If you like it    rocket if you don't then don't.

14.) Sneakers – Hate it!!!! Sneakers are for working out. Unless you're under 18 sneakers should not be part of your going out wardrobe.

Aug Haul/Reviews

I have gotten a few items this month that I haven't talked about so I thought being month end this would be the perfect chance. As well to go through a few other items I have purchased this month.

As I mentioned before in my Josie Maren review post, I picked up the 100% Argan oil light and I love it. Highly recommended especially if you have oily skin. It has in the past few weeks drastically reduced my oiliness and the level of large pores and breakouts. The brightness and silky smooth texture of my skin is wonderful as well.

The argon lip treatment is very nice. Not noticing any plumping or any real moisturizing difference from other brands, but the bottle is killer cute and the smell and texture are really pleasing.

Staying on skincare I have also started using the Origins a perfect world antioxidant moisturizer with white tea. Nice formula, feels nice on the skin with a pretty soft scent. Above all it gives moisture back after using my toner, but not so much that it's added to any oiliness.

Garnier skin naturals fresh cleansing cloths. So I ran out of my pond cleaning cloths and was just not feeling the best, and generally really lazy so I grabbed these the grocery store to save making a separate stop at the drugstore. Not bad. Not great. I have to use two cloths to get the same clean as with Ponds. It doesn't touch my mascara or lash adhesive. Does have a nice scent and at $7.99 for 25 it's a cheap option.

Maybelline the elixir in pedal plush and breathtaking apricot - Love them to bits want more I think I have express that enough in my review and times used my looks.

Mac blush and Sunbasque. The perfect summer blush for near no make up days, or glam looks. Great problems with the pink tone and a soft shimmer. A definite must-have for next summer.

Only one lipstick this month, lime crime is babe it. Nothing tops lime crime for lipsticks as far as I am concerned. I want to this one for a while now but it is always been out of stock. Finally I have my hands on it! Love!!!

Finally found a nail polish that actually lasts. The C&D vinyl Lux nail polish in shade lush tropics. Not a full week where but I have gotten a good for almost 5 days before chipping. Most brands are lucky to last me 48 hours.

Merrell activewear apricot tank top. Great color and style, feel so good. Keeps the girls lockdown. Really great for outdoor activities when you need support in moisture control without having to look completely gym gear.

Black jegging's – love, cute, comfy and perfect for fall winter transitions.

Make up storage trays from IKEA – have not used yet.

And........ A bath and Bodyworks order. Three wick candles in watermelon lemonade, and peach cilantro twist. Hand soap's in ginger peach, I need nectarines, Eucalyptus mint, cozy vanilla cream, a walk in the woods, and crisp morning air(start getting into the fall scents).
